Coberley Village Fete & Produce Show 2018

27 August 2018

Coberley Sets Growth Challenge!

Coberley Village Fete is once again laying down the challenge to amateur gardeners, food and handicraft producers, photographers and artists to come up with trophy-winning entries to fill its marquee at the 2018 Produce & Handicraft Show.

It takes place at the Coberley Primary C of E School on Bank Holiday Monday, 27th August.

Produce Show Secretary, Georgina Kedge commented “Last year’s show saw a very enthusiastic response from the community to compete for the many challenge trophies in a wide range of categories, – from vegetables and flowers to preserves and cakes, from handicrafts to painting and photography.”

“Following its successful introduction last year, we will again be featuring the home-made scarecrow competition, with classes for both adults and children” added Lindsay Baker, one of the principal organisers of the event.

“We are hoping that people from within the parish and from anywhere else, will be inspired to come forward with even more entries and push up the already-high standard”, she continued.

A silver band will be entertaining throughout the afternoon and there will be some visitors from the charming Cotswold Alpaca herd, with demonstrations of the ancient art of alpaca fleece spinning.

The Fete will again include the very popular Dog Show and amongst the many stalls and activities to tempt visitors, will be a BBQ, ice creams and cream teas, pre-loved clothes, try-your-luck games, tombola and a raffle.

All funds raised will go towards the upkeep of St Giles Church, Coberley.
